Congratulations to the Winner of the Employee of the Month for April 2025

April 2025 Employee Spotlight: Lauryn Apelu & Deon Fualalo

Hello Team,

At Rubbish Direct, we pride ourselves on the people who go above and beyond — those who don’t just meet expectations, but raise the bar. This month, we’re proud to celebrate two team members who have done just that: Lauryn Apelu, our April Employee of the Month, and Deon Fualalo, our outstanding runner-up.

🏆 Employee of the Month: Lauryn Apelu

Lauryn has demonstrated exceptional growth and initiative over the past month. She fully embodies our core value:
“Do it properly or don’t do it at all – there is no traffic on the extra mile.”

In April, Lauryn took on the challenge of managing payroll — a role that requires accuracy, confidentiality, and close attention to detail. Despite the complexity of the task, she quickly grasped it, demonstrating that she is a fast learner and a capable professional who thrives under responsibility.

Her ability to work independently, think critically, and adapt with confidence makes her an invaluable asset to our team. We’re incredibly proud of Lauryn’s progress and dedication — congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

🙌 Honourable Mention: Deon Fualalo

Deon has consistently demonstrated what it means to take pride in one’s work.

On a recent Saturday truck run, he noticed his partner transferring dirty bins from one truck into another — a practice that falls short of our customer standards. Deon acted immediately: he stopped the process, personally cleaned the bins, and reported the incident to the truck supervisor. His actions not only protected the customer experience but also reinforced our culture of accountability.

Beyond this, Deon continues to demonstrate a proactive approach to learning. He temporarily joined the logistics team to gain a broader understanding of how other parts of the company operate — a true sign of someone invested in their personal and professional growth. Even when faced with challenges on the baler, he remains upbeat and committed, often staying late to ensure the job is done right.

💬 Final Thoughts

Lauryn and Deon have both shown that excellence is a mindset — one that pushes beyond the basics to deliver quality, reliability, and continuous improvement. Their efforts make Rubbish Direct stronger, and we are proud to have them as part of our team.

👏 Let’s all take a moment to celebrate their achievements and draw inspiration from their example.

Peace of mind with job security and a stable employer with family values.
