Today, we carried out a comprehensive live audit on the rubbish and recycling practices of Precinct Properties. Through this audit, we aimed to identify the types and amounts of waste generated by the company, thereby identifying areas where waste minimisation efforts could be implemented. We are grateful to Colliers for allowing us access to their bins after lunch, which helped us collect data for the audit.
Our audit revealed interesting insights. We found that 58% of the waste in the trash bin was actually compostable food waste that could have been diverted to the food waste bin for further processing. This waste could have been turned into high-quality fertilizer, instead of ending up in a landfill. This finding highlights the importance of proper segregation of waste at the source, and the need for awareness campaigns to educate people on the benefits of composting.
Overall, our audit provides valuable information to Precinct Properties that can help them improve their waste management practices and reduce their environmental footprint. We hope that our findings will encourage other businesses to conduct similar audits and take action to minimize their waste generation.
